1.2. Academic Support System
·
Teachers monitor student performance and
learning needs, and then adjust what they teach or how they teach to improve
student learning.
·
St. Paul avail the I-ready program to know
the progress of the students academically and robotics class for further growth
in terms of using technology. Previously Scholastic Reading program was also
availed by the school to enhance the reading comprehension of the students.s
·
St.
Paul has community groups and volunteer-based learning programs also, often
working in partnership with local public schools and barangays. Usually giving
support such as catechesis (evangelization of the word of God), feeding, prison
visit, tree planting and tree growing.
·
Summer school or “summer bridge programs” is
also adopted to help students catch up (if they fell behind during the previous
year) or prepare for the next grade (if there are concerns they might struggle
academically or drop out of high school).
·
The school is using
digital and online learning applications and gadgets, such as Ipad for their
textbooks and Quipper(education technology company that provides e-Learning,
coaching, tutoring, and assessment services for K-12),to help students grasp
difficult concepts, or teachers may use course-management programs that allow
them to archive course materials and communicate with students.
·
In school, the strategy of having advisers is use to build stronger and
more understanding relationships between teachers and students. The general
idea is that students will be better served and more effectively taught if
teachers know students well and understand their distinct learning needs,
interests, and aspirations.
·
Since the school adopts the Outcomes-Based
Education Curriculum, extended opportunities are given to the pupils. The
support may be provided during regular classes, during the school day, or after
regular school hours. Support that focuses on the enhancement of the students
skills that they still lack on.
1.3 Teaching System
Junior High School Department St. Paul University Surigao has
a teaching system, which is 5 days of learning in a week, Monday to Friday.
duration of study in one day, starting at 8.00 am to 5.00 pm, but Wednesday
only until 3.30 pm. duration of learning in one subject is 1 hour. I followed
my mentor's schedule for teaching practice. Here's my mentor's schedule

1.4 Material and Other Learning Source
1.5 Measurement and Evaluation System
Each subject has a handbook
for teachers, at least two textbooks. and I was loaned the book to prepare the
material to be delivered during teaching practice in the classroom. My mentor
also recommends material sources from the internet to support learning
materials and to support classroom learning activities such as looking for images
and videos to facilitate students in understanding the material
I think this is still the same as Indonesia but the use of books for
students is less, because here I have used tablets for learning and more use of internet technology for
learning
